Time for summer reading!
School is just about to get out. Congratulations to all those who have survived another year! Now summer affords us the time to read and enjoy learning in different ways. It’s so important to keep reading. Think of a way your family of one, two, or more can be motivated to read. Maybe a trip to the ice cream store for pages read or a family activity of some other sort. Or read a series aloud together. For children, there are lots of summer reading programs out there too. Here are some great links to check out:

Can children who don't technically "read" participate in the Borders or Barnes/Noble program? Rosie will definitely be LISTENING to a lot of books this summer!! Anyone know??
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good question, Katie. Thanks for posting! If no one knows, I'll look into it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this blog! Thanks for sharing so many neat ideas!

Katie, I looked into it, and Borders does want the child to be reading to him/herself. Barnes & Noble is a little more flexible. If the child is participating in listening to a chapter book (that level or higher), it can count. But of course, the free books are all at that high a level too... For what it's worth!
