FEBRUARY PREPAREDNESS: Are budget literate? Can you use your food storage?

February's theme is emphasizing beans and budgeting.  The biggest resource that we are spotlighting is the free financial course offered by Brigham Young University at:
http://personalfinance.byu.edu/
Check it out!

The handouts for beans and budgeting include:

1. Some tips on cooking beans from the famous Paula "Bean" who calls cornbread with sugar, "corn cake" and not truly southern!  For her favorite cornbread to accompany her beans she uses the White Lily Cornbread Recipe right off the " Enriched Self-Rising Buttermilk White Corn Meal Mix" bag.  She said always use real buttermilk not a milk/vinegar substitute.

2. For those of you who are "transplants" to the South, she gave us two of her mother's "corn cake" recipes with sugar.

3.  A handout on frugal shopping.  These are useful tips even if you do not have time to add couponing to your shopping talents!

4.  The theme song for preparedness, for those of you who want to sing your way to preparedness.

5.  A survey about the resources that we have available to share with others.

All handouts can be found in the February folder at the following link.  Have fun being literate about preparedness!
